Build a realistic podcast budget

A show costs more than mic time alone. How to budget Podcast recording at Obligerpath — table setup for two to four voices, basic edit prep included.

Budget building blocks

Split costs into recording (studio + engineer), prep (research, question lists, booking guests), post (editing, music beds, hosting — often outside our scope unless quoted), and a contingency for retakes. In Amsterdam guests often arrive by tram; buffer for delays before you pay for extra hours.

Rates include 21% VAT: €88 per hour, €235 per episode (two hours recording), €2,100 for ten episodes. B2B invoices may use 14-day payment terms.

Hour vs episode vs season

Hourly suits pilots, short updates or pick-ups after a main block. Per episode covers two recording hours — enough for many two-host, one-guest interviews plus basic edit prep.

Season (ten episodes) helps when you have a fixed release calendar and want dates held early. Free cancellation up to 7 days ahead; later slots incur 50% per our terms.

Estimating time per episode

Do not budget only spoken minutes. Mic setup, soundcheck, breaks, retakes and a repeated answer easily consume thirty minutes. For forty minutes of finished audio, plan roughly ninety to one hundred twenty studio minutes — what the episode rate targets.

More than four people at the table? Contact us — up to 6 people fit in the building; the table layout is optimised for two to four voices.

What recording includes

Podcast recording covers table mics, booms where needed, an engineer watching levels and space, and basic edit prep (markers, raw exports). Full music production, heavy sound design or video edit are out of scope unless quoted.

Files are kept 12 months; see privacy policy. For loudness on music intros later, pair with LUFS guide.

Scheduling and access

Open Monday–Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00, Sunday closed. at Overtoom 141, 1054 HG. We are at Overtoom 141, a short walk from the Overtoom stop (GVB tram 1 and 7). From Amsterdam Centraal, allow about twenty minutes on tram 1 towards Osdorp. There is on-street paid parking and bicycle racks; the entrance is at street level beside the large front windows.. Book early for weekday evenings; Saturday slots are shorter but popular for regional guests.

A 30% deposit confirms the date. Need split WAV per host? Note it in contact; we reply within 2 business days at [email protected].

Save money without wrecking audio

Send questions and intro copy ahead; limit live searching during recording. Take one proper break instead of many micro-pauses. Use the season package if you already plan ten episodes — hourly is flexible but costs more per minute.

Remote inserts from home mics are fine for solo segments; panel talk in one room still benefits from the studio table. Solo voice work? Vocal recording and vocal prep.

If sponsors require ad reads, send scripts before the session so levels stay even and you avoid booking another full block.
